In 1995, following two years of effort on the part of homeschoolers in Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) approved their Requirements for Home Educated Student Athletes. The story of that political and legal effort to gain eligibility for high school-age homeschool students to play on sports teams is recounted in "The Right to Play: Homeschoolers and High School Athletic Teams," in Growing Without Schooling #105, June/July 1995.
